Post 690 is 100 Years Old
The American Legion Post 690 is celebrating their 100th year! The American Legion was founded in 1919. Post 690 was founded in 1924. If you are a Veteran of any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, please join us this year. If you are a relative of a Veteran you are eligible to join the Sons of the American Legion or the American Legion Auxiliary. We work as a family to support and assist Veterans and Veteran families. Stop in and see for yourself what we are all about. All Veterans and the public are invited to visit and use our Club Room or Club Hall.
Thank you for allowing Post 690 to provide their patriotic efforts to the Palatine community and for 100 years of your support. David Hammer from the Palatine Historical Society has written a brief History of American Legion Post 690.

ABOUT US
We are the Palatine, Illinois Post 690 of the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary. Our family of chartered organizations work together in providing a fraternal group of veterans, sons of veterans and those closely related to veterans.
The American Legion
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
The Sons of the American Legion
Although Sons has its own membership, the organization is not a separate entity. Rather, the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) is a program of The American Legion. Many Legionnaires hold dual membership in the Sons of the American Legion.
The American Legion Auxiliary
Founded in 1919, The American Legion Auxiliary has nearly 1 million members from all walks of life. The Auxiliary administers hundreds of volunteer programs, gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to veterans, and raises millions of dollars to support its own programs, as well as other worthwhile charities familiar to Americans. It is all accomplished with volunteers.
